Getting Connected In Guelph

The Guelph Chamber of Commerce is committed to connecting businesses and business people to each other, with as many opportunities as possible.  Some examples below:

1)      Guelph Chamber of Commerce publishes a quarterly magazine:  Moving Business Forward.  Articles are intended to pass on general information to benefit business or the community.  September's issue is going to press, with 1800 to be distributed free of charge, paid for by advertising.  Natasha Persaud puts this magazine together, and is collecting articles for January.

2)      The Guelph Chamber Regional Trade Show is coming up in a few weeks on September 20^th at Bingeman’s with over 300 exhibitors, and free to the public so people from all over the region come.   Jane Wielhorski is a good contact for more information.  The Guelph Chamber joins with K-W Chamber and Cambridge Chamber for this event.  http://www.guelphchamber.com/irmevents.aspx?id=1102

3)      Career Education Council:  Executive Director Lori Arsenault, organizes a career fair with high schools each year with over 80 exhibitors.  The career fair is intended to help students know what career opportunities are out there in Guelph, but is also a great way for local businesses to contribute back to the community and meet each other.  The CEC does many other things to promote student to business connections in Guelph and surrounding area.  Jane Wielhorski sits on the CEC from the Guelph Chamber.  www.careereducationcouncil.ca

4)      Career Pathways:  Each year the Guelph Chamber and partners organize a career fair for 1600 Grade 8 students in Guelph with booths for exhibitors, held at the River Run Centre.  Another event Jane Wielhorski is working on.  http://www.guelphchamber.com/CareerPathEvents.aspx

5)      If you visit the Guelph Chamber website www.guelphchamber.com and under “Membership Directory” type in any search word for a type of business or service.  We have worked with the City of Guelph and the University of Guelph to build a common database of all businesses and related organizations in Guelph, and now have about 2800 listed.  An expanded directory will be published shortly.  Bette Ann Cannon is fine tuning contacts and companies, so make sure she has you included.
