Yesterday we met with water managers from Jerusalem and Nazareth, who toured Guelph's water and wastewater facilities. Following a presentation by Wayne Galliher, manager of Guelph's water conservation program, Booky Oren, Chairman of Watec 2011, said Guelph's efforts are unique in the world and ahead of anything he has seen. The delegation were surprised that Canadians would be so concerned and effective in water conservation given our relative abundance of this resource. (including the rain over the past few days!) We have committed to stay connected through Guelph's newly formed water cluster that operates under Innovation Guelph as part of the Ontario Network of Excellence. Presentations by Guelph's Enpar Technologies and Mantech showed leading edge water treatment and testing equipment developed and produced in Guelph.
Our current consumption is heading towards Israel's per capita levels and will be amongst the world's best if current trends continue over the next 10 years. So far we are ahead of target.
